Steps to Use the BATTELLE CRITICAL CARE DECONTAMINATION SYSTEM:
- Read the “Battelle Invite Letter” which will briefly describe the program.
2. Determine if you would like to participate in the program by reading the attachment labeled “Battelle CCDS Fact Sheet”. If you determine that you want to participate in the program register at this link:
b. Once registered you will receive an email with additional documentation such as the “Chain of Custody Form” and a “Services Agreement”. The agreement should be signed at the corporate level if at all possible. Then each healthcare facility operating under your healthcare corporation will be covered by the agreement and each will receive a separate “Site Code” and FEDEX shipping labels.
c. At the bottom of the email will be a contact name and number. Call or email this individual and he will assign you your “SITE CODE” that you need to mark your masks etc.
d. Once you have that begin bagging your masks instead of throwing them away.
3. Read the attachment labeled “Battelle CCDS Instructions for Healthcare Facilities” to learn what your responsibilities will be. They include: (this is the cliff notes version – Read the Attachment)
a. Creating collection stations in your facilities. Each station should have a bag, provided by you (not Battelle). These bags are for N95’s ONLY.
b. Each Mask must be labeled as described in the documentation – individual’s name, site code and Site Location ID
c. Collect the bags as described in the attachment, to include double bagging, wiping down the outer bag and placing it into a properly labeled box.
d. Complete Chain of custody form that will be provided by Battelle upon registration into the program.
e. FEDEX or deliver N95s to the site. Your choice. Pre-paid shipping labels will be paid for by Battelle.
f. Allow for return of PPE via FEDEX or pick up when ready. It is my understanding that there is approximately a 72-hour turnaround time.
4. Distribute the attachment labeled “Battelle CCDS Instructions for Healthcare Personnel” to your personnel so that they can label their masks per the requirements and have a brief understanding of what the program is.
