Alternate Care Facility Trailers of Use During Hurricane Florence
Prior to Hurricane Florence, hospitals, ancillary care facilities, and EMS agencies were working through every avenue to request cots to help billet their staff through the storm.
Starting in 2008, the Eastern Healthcare Preparedness Coalition purchased 20 ACF trailers, one for each of their regional hospitals. These trailers include WestCot beds, army cots, tables, chairs, gloves, gowns and other items useful for setting up a temporary alternate care site. During Hurricane Florence every hospital utilized these trailers and the equipment inside to billet staff within their facility or at a local EMS site.
In all, over 1000 Army Cots and 200 WestCot beds were deployed.
